Enertor Recovery Slides Review

Picture the scene, you’ve just crossed the finish line of a brutal 50 miler. Your feet have spent the last nine hours navigating thick UK mud, rocky ascents, and unforgiving descents. The absolute last thing you want to do is keep your feet crammed inside your trail shoes for a second longer than necessary. Enter the recovery slide!

Full disclosure: the team at Enertor recently sent a pair of their Recovery Slides my way to test out and review for the site, but after putting them through their paces, I couldn’t wait to share my thoughts.

What is a Recovery Slide?

If you haven't used one before, you might be wondering how a recovery slide differs from the standard pair of flip-flops. Put simply, a recovery slide is a piece of specially engineered, slip-on footwear designed specifically to help your feet and lower legs recuperate after intense exercise. Rather than just offering a barrier between your foot and the floor, they're constructed from advanced shock-absorbing foams and feature specific anatomical geometries designed to reduce joint stress, support fatigued arches, and allow your feet to spread out naturally.

Why Are Recovery Slides Great for Ultramarathon Runners?

Running an ultra, especially on the technical and often waterlogged trails we have here in the UK, puts an unbelievable amount of stress on your lower body. By the end of a race, your feet are often swollen, your arches are aching, and your calves and Achilles are screaming for mercy. Walking to the car or hobbling around the race village can be an ordeal in itself. Recovery slides are fantastic for ultramarathons because they offer immediate, cushioned relief. They allow your toes to splay, encourage blood flow without constriction, and take the mechanical load off your most overworked tendons the moment you slip your race shoes off.

Who is Enertor?

If you've not heard of Enertor they're not just another fashion brand making footwear, they have a brilliant background in biomechanics, boasting over 25 years of experience in injury prevention and treatment. Their products are engineered by experts who genuinely understand how the foot functions under extreme load, and you can really feel that scientific approach translated into the design of these slides.

First Impressions

In terms of how they arrive, they’re packaged very well. They come with a nice, high-quality draw-string bag which is really handy. You can just pop the slides into the bag and chuck them into your boot, drop bag or gym holdall. It means they are ready to go straight after the finish line, or even if you just want to take them to the gym to wear after a heavy leg session.

The Specs

Let’s talk numbers and design. The slides weigh in at a reasonable 247g and have a 20mm drop from the heel to the forefoot. This raised heel is a brilliant touch, as it massively helps to offload the Achilles tendon and calf muscles, areas that take a hammering on hilly UK routes.

Underfoot, the dual-density midsole is incredibly clever. It feels soft and forgiving in the centre of the footbed, giving you that immediate "ahh" feeling. However, it’s noticeably firmer around the outer edges, which provides a stable base of support.

There's also some subtle arch support built in and I was pleased to find that it isn't overly intrusive. It doesn’t aggressively push up into your foot but instead, you can just subtly notice it’s there, gently holding the foot and helping to relieve any lingering arch pain.

The Fit

When I put them on, the very first thing I noticed was the upper. It has a nice snug fit that wraps securely around the foot, keeping the slide in place. This is a huge bonus. One of the main things I’ve disliked about other sliders I’ve tried in the past is that you end up having to walk with your toes lifted up, constantly gripping the footbed just to stop your foot from sliding out the back. With the Enertor slides, I found I didn’t have to worry about that because the fit is secure.

Enertor Recovery Slides Discount Code

Even better, Enertor has kindly given GB Ultra Runner readers an exclusive 15% Enertor discount code, just use the code GBULTRARUNNER at checkout when you secure your pair.

The Verdict

I’ve been using the Enertor Recovery Slides for the past couple of weeks after all of my long weekend runs, and I’ve been super impressed. Having something that's both comfortable and supportive to slip onto my feet immediately after a run to help relieve pain and pressure has been a game changer.

As ultra runners, our recovery is often so easily neglected in favour of just getting the miles in. But recovering well is incredibly important, and anything that can improve and speed up that process is a massive win in my book.
