Nigel Hockin Running Coach

UESCA qualified Ultra Trail Running Coach based in Yorkshire. Supported by Salomon since 2023, Nige Hockin has been running in some form for as long as he can remember. At school, he was always the first to complete the warm-up laps around the pitch before football. His true love for running developed later, when he began focusing on the marathon in 2016. That journey culminated in a standout performance at the Manchester Marathon in 2023, where he placed 8th with a time of 2:25:55. The marathon resonated with him because of his passion for the process, the training, the structure, and the pursuit of long-term improvement.

Over time, his interest began to shift toward the trails. His first ultramarathon came in 2018, a 60-mile race he completed alongside his brother. Despite being underprepared, he managed to see it through. The following years were spent exploring and learning on the trails, where his competitive drive evolved from running as fast as possible to covering as far as possible, leading up to running the Pennine Way over five days.

The final turning point from road to trail arrived in 2023, only three weeks after the Manchester Marathon, when he lined up at the Yorkshire Three Peaks Race. From that moment, Nige fully committed to trail running and has not looked back since. Among his highlights are securing two top 10 finishes at the UTS 100k, widely regarded as the most demanding and competitive 100k race in the United Kingdom, as well as 3rd place finish at Yorkshire 3 Peaks Race in 2024.
