Discover the wild, dramatic beauty of the Ochil Hills in Scotland with this stunning 50k ultramarathon from Maverick Race. Starting in the historic grounds of the University of Stirling, this ultra is a true Scottish adventure, taking you on a journey from manicured castle grounds to the rugged, open fells.
This is a race of contrasts and a true test of a runner's all-round ability. It combines runnable forest trails with the kind of tough, open-hill running that Scottish trail racing is famous for, creating an unforgettable challenge.
The Ochil Hills ultra marathon is a formidable 49km loop that showcases the very best of this incredible landscape. With 1,943m (6,375ft) of elevation gain, this is a race that will test your climbing legs.
Your journey begins at the magnificent Airthrey Castle before heading out through Hermitage Wood and over Black Hill. The course then opens up, leading you along undulating and exposed trails with the main Ochil Hills range serving as a breath taking backdrop. This is a route that perfectly blends fast trail sections with the exhilarating challenge of fell running.
As with all Maverick races, the Ochil Hills ultra is well-supported and brilliantly organised, and itβs an ideal race for those looking to step up to a tougher, more mountainous 50k and experience some of the finest trails central Scotland has to offer.
All runners on the Ultra route will be required to carry a mandatory kit. For full details and cut-off times, please refer to the official Maverick Race website.
