How far can your mind take you? Discover the answer at the Gosfield Backyard Ultra, a relentless "last one standing" event set in the beautiful private grounds of Gosfield School in Essex. This is a race where speed is irrelevant and mental fortitude is everything.

Stripping running back to its purest form, the backyard ultra format is a simple yet brutal test of endurance, pacing, and sheer willpower. There is only one winner, everyone else is a DNF. Do you have what it takes to be the last one standing?

Last Person Standing Race

The rules are simple:

• Runners must complete a 4.167-mile (6.7km) loop every hour, on the hour.
• The "Horn of Happiness" sounds at the top of each hour to signal the start of a new loop.
• You must be in the starting corral and ready to run when the horn sounds. If you are not, you are out of the race.
• Any time left within the hour after completing your loop is yours to use for rest, recovery, and refuelling.
• This process repeats, hour after hour, day and night, until only one runner is left to complete a final solo loop and be crowned the champion.

This unique format creates an incredible sense of community. You run together, rest together, and support each other, battling the clock as a collective until the final war of attrition begins.

Course

The Gosfield Backyard Ultra takes place on a fully marked, 4.167-mile grass loop entirely within the scenic, private grounds of the Gosfield School. The course is runnable with a gentle 28m (95 feet) of climb per loop, designed to slowly wear you down over time.

The event is perfectly set up for the backyard format. A large camping area is situated right next to the race headquarters and start/finish corral, allowing for easy access to your personal supplies and support crew between loops. Runners also have access to indoor space, showers, changing rooms, and charging stations. A well-stocked aid station provides hot and cold drinks and snacks throughout the event. 

Every single participant receives a finisher's memento to mark their achievement, while the lone winner takes home a unique prize and £150 in cash.
