How many yards can you bank? Prepare for a relentless test of pacing and perseverance at the Kent Backyard Ultra in Sholden. Set on one of the flattest backyard courses in Europe, this event is all about finding your rhythm and pushing your limits in a friendly, supportive and incredibly fast environment.

This is the third round of the highly popular Kent Backyard Ultra Series from Hellfire Events. Whether you're aiming to set a new personal distance record or just want to experience the unique camaraderie of the backyard format, Sholden is the perfect place to do it.

If you're unfamiliar with backyard ultras the format is simple, complete a 4.167-mile (6.7km) loop, known as a 'yard', every hour, on the hour. This continues until only one runner completes a final, solo loop to claim victory.

Course

Get ready for speed. The course at Sholden backyard ultra is an out-and-back route on wide, flat, gravel tracks. With just 8 metres of elevation gain per yard, it's designed for consistent, rhythmic running. This makes it an ideal course for seasoned backyard runners to chase big numbers and for newcomers to ease into the format without the added challenge of tough terrain. The venue is also perfect for supporters, with camping and glamping options available right next to the start/finish area.

The Sholden backyard ultra offers a unique opportunity to see just how far you can go when the terrain is taken out of the equation. It's a pure test of your pacing, nutrition, and mental strength. Every runner who completes at least one yard earns a bespoke medal, with prestigious buckles awarded for completing 100 miles (24 yards), being the 'Assist' (runner-up), and of course, for being the Last One Standing.
