Loop Til You Drop Backyard Ultra - Last One Standing

Forget your 10k pace. Forget your marathon PB. At the Loop Til You Drop Backyard Ultra, those numbers mean nothing. This is a different kind of challenge, a game of pure, unadulterated endurance and mental fortitude.

Organised by Polka Dot Events at the beautiful Turvey House estate, the concept is brilliantly simple: can you complete a 4.167 mile loop in under an hour?

And when you do... can you do it again? And again? And again?

Backyard Ultra Format

A Backyard Ultra race is a format that will test your limits in a way you've never experienced.

  1. The bell rings. You, along with everyone else, set off on the 4.167 mile (6.7km) loop.
  2. You have 60 minutes. Finish the loop in 45 minutes, and you get 15 minutes to rest, eat, and see to your kit. Finish in 58 minutes, and you've got two minutes to get ready.
  3. The bell rings again. If you are not in the starting corral, ready to go, your race is over.
  4. There is no finish line. This continues hour after hour, through the day and into the night. The event only ends when there is just one runner left with the willpower to start another loop.

That one person is the winner. Everyone else, whether they ran for 5 hours or 35 hours, is an official "DNF" (Did Not Finish).

Choose Your Battle

Whether you're a seasoned ultra-runner or backyard-curious, the Loop Til You Drop Backyard Ultra offers 3 different entry options, depending on your appetite for pain.

The Solo Challenge: The classic. This is the full, unadulterated experience. It’s just you against the bell, hour after hour. This is where you find out what you're truly made of.

The Paired Option: Share the load... and the fate. You and a partner alternate loops. It's a brilliant team strategy, but there's a catch: if one of you quits or gets timed out, the whole team is out.

The 7 Hour Max: Dip your toe into the world of backyard running. This is the perfect option for those who want the experience without the all-night commitment. You run the same loops, by the same rules, but everyone stops after 7 loops.

You'll have full chip-timing, first aid cover, porta-loos  and a well-stocked aid station to keep you going. Runners can also set up their own personal "base camp" at the start/finish. Bring your comfy chair, your favourite snacks and a warm blanket, this is your sanctuary between loops.
