Mackyard x 4ZERO Backyard Ultra - Lake District
Set in the rugged heart of the Lake District at Gatesgarth Farm in Buttermere, the Mackyard x 4ZERO is a true Backyard Ultra. No distance cap, no target lap and no time limit. The race ends when only one runner remains. If you're looking for sympathy, you've come to the wrong place. If you're looking for a genuine test of human endurance, get ready.
Backyard Ultra Format
The rules follow the purest form of Backyard Ultra running, grounded in relentless consistency.
- The Yard: A standard 4.167 mile (6.706km) loop set against the iconic backdrop of Buttermere.
- The Bell: The starting gun sounds on the hour, every hour.
- The Clock: Finish the loop within 60 minutes to enter the starting corral for the next lap. Fail to make the bell, and you are officially DNF.
- The Last One Standing: The event continues indefinitely until one runner completes a solo lap. Everyone else receives a DNF.
There are no prizes for finishing a lap fast. The only goal is answering the bell for the next hour. This is a game of pacing, grit and stubborn mental resistance. How much rest can you afford in the transition zone? That is your strategy to solve.
