The Sting Backyard Ultra Marathon

Welcome to The Sting backyard ultra, a race with no finish line, set in the beautiful surroundings of Richmond, North Yorkshire. This isn't your typical ultra marathon. There's no set distance and no finish time to chase. Here, the only question is: have you got one more loop in you?

Hosted by the friendly folks at Team Caterpillar Running Club, The Sting is a backyard ultra that will test your endurance, challenge your mental grit, and push you to discover your true limits.

The concept is simple. Runners have one hour to complete a 4.18 mile (6.7km) loop. At the start of the next hour, you go again. This continues hour after hour, day and night, until only one runner is left standing. Everyone else is a DNF – but what a way to do it!

The Course

The event uses a single, captivating 4.18 mile loop. The route has around 92m (302 feet) of elevation and guides you through enchanting woodlands and sprawling fields. You'll join an old rail-track with breath taking views of the historic Easby Abbey before the path meanders alongside the rushing River Swale.

The race HQ at Brompton on Swale Holiday Park, is your sanctuary. You can expect a warm, supportive atmosphere from the Team Caterpillar crew. The event is well-known for its excellent camping facilities, so you and your support crew can set up a proper base camp.

Do you have what it takes to be the last one standing? For more info, including camping and registration details, please visit the official Sting Backyard Ultra website.
