Embark on a truly extraordinary adventure with the Race Across Scotland® - a 215-mile (346km) ultra marathon traversing Scotland from west to east along the stunning Southern Upland Way. This epic coast-to-coast challenge takes you from the picturesque harbour of Portpatrick, across rugged peaks, through ancient woodlands, rolling moorland, and scenic valleys, following one of Scotland’s most iconic long-distance trails.
With comprehensive support throughout the journey and live GPS tracking, runners from across the globe gather to take on this unforgettable crossing of the Scottish lowlands and highlands, testing endurance, spirit, and resilience over some of the most beautiful terrain the UK has to offer.

The Race Across Scotland starts at 6:00 AM on Saturday, 8th August 2026, from Portpatrick, with a generous 100-hour cut-off allowing participants to complete their journey by Wednesday, 12th August 2026.
The Race Across Scotland® is a demanding endurance challenge, and participants must come with a strong foundation in ultrarunning or long-distance endurance events. Applicants should also be confident in self-navigation with a map and compass, especially in remote terrain and unpredictable weather conditions.
To be considered, you must complete an online application form with detailed information about your running history and relevant experience.
Participants must be 20 years of age or older on the day of the race (as per UKA Trail Running Rule T3 (141) S5), be in good physical health, and have their application successfully approved to ensure they’re suitably prepared to attempt this exceptional challenge.
Prior to the event, GB Ultra will collect important information including medical history, dietary needs, and any known allergies.
