Think Lincolnshire is completely flat? The Yellow Belly 100 is here to prove you wrong. Taking you on a breathtaking 100 mile journey through the heart of the county, this ultramarathon combines big skies, ancient trails, and the surprisingly gruelling rolling hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds.
Organised by the passionate team at Yellow Belly Ultras, this 100 miler is a fantastic addition to the UK ultra calendar. It offers a spectacular, fully supported route that showcases the absolute best of the county's hidden landscapes, making it a brilliant option for both first-time 100 mile runners and seasoned veterans chasing a fast time.
The route is a masterclass in varied British countryside. While it avoids the brutal, technical mountain climbs of the Lakes or Snowdonia, it replaces them with rolling undulations that will test your muscular endurance to the limit.
The Terrain: Expect a highly runnable mix of hard-packed farm tracks, grassy bridleways, woodland trails, and quiet country lanes.
The Wolds: A significant portion of the race takes you through the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Here, you will navigate hidden valleys, chalk streams, and steep, punchy climbs that will quickly dispel the myth that this county is totally flat!
The Elements: Lincolnshire is famous for its vast, open landscapes and "big skies." While this provides spectacular sunrises and sunsets, it also means you can be highly exposed to coastal winds sweeping across the agricultural land.
Running 100 miles requires exceptional support, and the Yellow Belly crew delivers.
Aid Stations: You will be supported by a series of strategically placed, fully stocked checkpoints. Expect standard ultra fare (sweet and savoury snacks, fruit, hydration) alongside hot food options deeper into the race to keep you fuelled through the night.
Drop Bags: To help you manage the massive distance, runners are typically permitted access to drop bags at designated halfway/major checkpoints, allowing for a fresh change of clothes, socks, and a restock of your favourite personal nutrition.
If you are intimidated by the sheer vertical gain of mountain 100 milers but still want the prestige of earning a 100 mile buckle, this is an fantastic option. The highly runnable terrain makes it an excellent course for setting a massive personal best, while the exceptional organisation and famously friendly "Yellow Belly" hospitality ensure you are supported every single step of the way.For the most up-to-date event details, complete registration information, and to secure your place on the start line, please visit the official race website.
