If you're looking for a serious ultra that showcases the wild, rugged beauty of northern England, the Ultra X England 110K is one for your race calendar. This is a formidable single-stage 110km (approx. 112km) ultra marathon set in the iconic Peak District National Park.
Starting and finishing in the famous village of Edale, the spiritual home of Peak District rambling, this event is a true test of endurance. It's part of a fantastic race weekend, meaning the atmosphere at the start/finish line is always buzzing.
This is a classic Peak District ultra, which means you can expect a challenging and varied day out. The organisers rate the course at a 3/5 for technicality, so you'll be tackling proper hills and trails, not just manicured paths. The reward, of course, is some of the most breath taking scenery in the country.
The 110km single-stage ultra kicks off early on the Saturday morning, giving you the full day and night to get the job done. The course is fully marked, so you can focus on your pacing and fuelling.
The cut-offs for the 110km single-stage ultra are very generous, with an average of 3 hours to complete each 10km section between checkpoints. This makes the event challenging but accessible for those who have put in the training and are prepared to keep moving.
The Ultra X England 110K is a proper ultra for those who love epic climbs, stunning views, and a fantastic race-day atmosphere. It's also part of the "Great British Slam," making it a must-do for many seasoned ultra runners. For full race details and registration, please visit the official Ultra X website.
