Centurion South Downs Way 50 Mile Ultra Marathon

The Centurion Running South Downs Way 50 is a challenging and rewarding 50 mile ultramarathon that traverses a stunning section of the South Downs Way National Trail. This iconic race, now in its 14th year, is the first event in the prestigious 50 Mile Grand Slam, attracting seasoned ultra runners and those looking to push their limits. With a significant amount of elevation gain and a mix of terrains, this race is a test of endurance and a fantastic way to experience the beauty of the English countryside.

Course

The race starts in Worthing and follows the South Downs Way to the finish in Eastbourne. The initial six miles take runners over chalk footpaths and bridleways, leading up to the breath taking Chanctonbury Ring. From there, the route follows the final 44 miles of the South Downs Way 100 course. Runners will encounter a total of 1,750m (5,700 feet) of elevation gain, with the course being approximately 85% trail and 15% road. The route is well-marked and supported by 7 aid stations and a dedicated medical team, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. The race concludes with a memorable lap of the track in Eastbourne.
