The 2026 Chester Ultra 50 Mile Ultra Marathon by GB Ultra
Get ready as GB Ultra presents the 10th anniversary of the Chester Ultra 50 Mile ultra marathon race on Saturday, February 28, 2026. This milestone event promises an unforgettable journey through some of the region's most breath taking natural trails.
The Course
Runners will navigate a well marked course, linking sections of the North Cheshire Way and the Sandstone Trail. Prepare to conquer notable landmarks such as Helsby Hill, the expansive Delamere Forest and the charming town of Frodsham. With an elevation gain of 849 meters, this ultra-marathon offers both stunning vistas and a true test of endurance.
Race Support and Recognition
Your progress will be tracked live online via GB Race Tracker, providing peace of mind for both runners and their supporters. Seven well-stocked checkpoints will be strategically placed along the route, offering essential aid and encouragement.
The Chester Ultra 50 Mile race operates under a UKA permit and race rules, ensuring a professionally managed event. It also holds a 2026 Trail Running Association Permit. Furthermore, the race is recognised for its prestige, awarding valuable ITRA points and UTMB mountain performance index points (allocation to be confirmed).
Essential Race Day Information
The race kicks off promptly at 6:00 AM from the Athletics Track at Ellesmere Port Sports Village, Stanney Lane, Ellesmere Port, CH65 9LB. Bib number and GB Race Tracker collection will be available on race morning between 4:15 AM and 5:30 AM, allowing ample time for pre-race preparations.
