Prepare for an unforgettable challenge in 2026 as GB Ultra presents the Pennine Barrier 50 Mile Ultra. This fantastic event, boasting 2,593m of elevation, stitches together some of the most breath taking trails within the magnificent Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Your journey begins in the charming village of Malham, with trails leading you through iconic natural wonders like Malham Cove, the intriguing Dry Valley of Watlowes, and the serene Malham Tarn. You'll then ascend Fountains Fell before encountering the magical Janet's Foss. The highlight of the course features the truly wonderful Yorkshire Three Peaks: Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. This is a stunning route that you'll undoubtedly remember forever, made even better by the excellent support from the dedicated GB Ultra team at various checkpoints.
The Pennine Barrier 50 Mile Ultra is a recognised event, awarding valuable ITRA and UTMB Performance Index points.
This 2026 event operates under both a UKA permit and a Trail Running Association permit, ensuring a well-organised and official race experience.
The Pennine Barrier 50 Mile Ultra kicks off at 6:00 AM on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from the Malham Showfield, Chapel Gate, Malham, Skipton, Yorkshire Dales National Park, BD23 4DG. Make sure to collect your bib number and GB Race Tracker between 4:15 AM and 5:30 AM on the morning of the race.
