The Maverick Jurassic Coast 50KM Ultra Marathon offers a substantial trail running challenge along the eastern sections of the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. This 50km out-and-back course is structured to provide a demanding yet accessible ultra experience over distinctive coastal terrain.
Course Profile
Commencing from the historic Corfe Castle, the 50KM Ultra route heads west along a segment of the South West Coast Path. The course is defined by its continuous undulations, featuring a series of steep ascents and descents inherent to this coastal environment. The terrain varies, encompassing well-worn trails, stony paths, occasional short sections of beach, and exposed grassy clifftops.
Key landmarks encountered on this route include the secluded Worbarrow Bay, the preserved ghost village of Tyneham, the unique geological features of Kimmeridge Bay, and the prominent headland of St Aldhelm's Head. Participants will reach a turnaround point before retracing their steps back to Corfe Castle. This out-and-back format allows for a different perspective on the challenging climbs and stunning coastal vistas. The repetitive nature of the ascents and descents, combined with the exposed clifftop sections, contributes to the route's demanding profile.
