Have you got what it takes to conquer a true giant of UK trail running? The Snowdonia Ultra Marathon Eryri isn't just a race; it's an epic ultra marathon through the heart of Wales' most dramatic and beautiful landscapes. This is your chance to test your limits against the rugged, iconic peaks of Snowdonia National Park.
Prepare yourself for an unforgettable 57km ultra that boasts a staggering 2,199 metres of elevation. This is a serious undertaking, designed for the dedicated ultrarunning enthusiast.
Your adventure starts and finishes in the legendary village of Llanberis. From the off, the route takes you up the challenging Maesgwm ascent, rewarding you with breath taking views right from the start. You'll descend towards Nant-y-Betws, with stunning sights over Llyn Cwellyn, before the Ultra route charts its own special course.
This is where you break away. The route dives deep into the beautiful Beddgelert Forest and guides you through the remote and stunning valleys of Cwm Tresgl and Cwm Pennant, areas of wild beauty that many runners never get to experience.
After rejoining the marathon route, you'll trace the path along Afon Glaslyn and Llyn Gwynant before tackling the main event: the ascent of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) itself. You'll climb via the PyG track to the famous Finger Stone. Once you've summited, all that's left is a thrilling 7km descent along the Llanberis Path, pushing you all the way back to a hero's welcome at the finish line.
The terrain is a trail runner's paradise, a stunning mix of technical mountain paths, ancient slate quarries, forest tracks and stony trails that will keep you focused and motivated every step of the way.
This is a demanding ultra marathon. It requires a good amount of hill training and mountain running experience. The route is tough, the conditions can be unpredictable, and you will be pushed to your limits.
But the rewards are immense. Not only will you earn incredible bragging rights, but finishers will also receive 3 ITRA points. This event is also a fully indexed UTMB race, making it a perfect qualifier for your bigger running ambitions.
There will be 5 fully-stocked aid stations across the route, plus an emergency water station high on the mountain.
