If you are looking for a fast 50K ultra, or just a stunning day out on the coast, the Suffolk Coastal Path 50K ultra marathon is an absolute must-do. Forget gruelling hills and technical terrain, this ultra is all about runnable paths, beautiful coastal scenery and chasing that personal best.
It’s a perfect race for road runners dipping their toes into the world of ultra running, as the course is fast, flat and very approachable.
This is a classic point-to-point ultra, meaning you'll enjoy a 50km journey from start to finish. The race begins in Kensington Gardens, Lowestoft and takes you south along the beautiful and varied Suffolk coastline.
The route is a brilliant mix of paved seafront paths, coastal dirt trails and quiet country lanes as it guides you through picturesque seaside towns like Southwold and the historic village of Dunwich.
With only 120m of elevation over the entire 50km, this course is genuinely flat. It’s built for runners who want to get into a rhythm and enjoy the stunning sea views. The race finally comes to an end right on the seafront at the iconic Moot Hall in Aldeburgh.
The route is fully marked, allowing you to focus on your pace and the scenery rather than a GPS track and there's four aid-station spread out along the course (at approx. 13km, 23km, 35km, and 44km) to keep you fuelled and hydrated.
With a generous cut off time of 9 hours, this truly is a fantastic ultra for first-timers.
