Maverick Peak District 50k Ultra Marathon
Immerse yourself in the raw beauty of the Peak District with this stunning 55km ultramarathon. Part of the formidable Maverick X-Trail series, this race offers a tough but accessible challenge, showcasing some of the most famous and scenic trails in the UK's first national park.
Starting and finishing in the charming town of Bakewell, this event is a good test of trail running skill and endurance, set against the backdrop of the iconic gritstone edges and lush river valleys of Derbyshire.
Course
This is a classic Peak District ultra route, delivering a truly memorable day on the trails. The 55km (34-mile) course features a decent 1,214m (3,982ft) of elevation gain, with a series of rewarding climbs and flowing, runnable descents.
The route is a journey through the heart of the White and Dark Peak regions, taking you along technical, rocky paths, through ancient woodlands, and across open moorland. You will traverse sections of the famous gritstone escarpments, enjoying panoramic views that make every metre of climbing worthwhile. It is the quintessential Peak District experience packed into one epic race.
As with all Maverick events, you can expect a fantastic, supportive atmosphere and flawless organisation. Runners will be aided by four well-stocked aid stations ('outposts') which are entirely plastic-free, so you must carry your own reusable cup or bottle.
