If you're looking for a 50km ultramarathon that delivers on stunning views and a proper challenge, the Ultra X England 50K is a fantastic choice. This isn't a gentle towpath race, it's a true Peak District adventure that takes in some of the most iconic and beautiful trails in the national park.
The event is based in the village of Edale, a classic hub for walkers and runners, which makes for a brilliant race-day atmosphere. This is the "Half Distance" event in the Ultra X England weekend, but make no mistake, it's a formidable challenge in its own right, with a significant amount of elevation.
This 50km (approx. 51km) course is designed to show you the best of the Peaks. You can expect challenging climbs up onto gritstone edges, sweeping descents into valleys, and views that will make the hard work worth it. The organisers rate the technicality as 3/5, so you'll need to be comfortable on varied and uneven trail terrain.
This ultra marathon is fully marked, so you can focus on the running and the scenery rather than staring at a map. Itβs a UTMB Index Race in the 50K category, making it a great option for those collecting points.
The 50km event typically takes place on the Sunday of the race weekend, with an 8 am start.
The Ultra X England 50km is a tough, rewarding, and brilliantly organised 50km that's ideal for anyone who loves hilly, scenic trails. For full details and registration, please visit the official race website.
