Backyard Ultra Format

If you are new to the Backyard Ultra (BYU) concept, the rules are unforgivingly simple:

• The Distance: The course is a looped route measuring exactly 4.167 miles (6.706 kilometres).
• The Clock: You have exactly 60 minutes to complete the loop and return to the starting corral.
• The Bell: Every hour, on the hour, the bell rings. If you are not standing in the starting corral ready to run when the bell finishes chiming, you are out.
• The Winner: The race only ends when one single runner remains to complete a final solo lap. Every other participant, no matter how far they ran, receives a DNF (Did Not Finish).
