Embark on an epic 100 mile coastal and countryside ultramarthon, tracing the historic footsteps of ancient saints. The Pilgrims Ultra is a point-to-point challenge that follows the full length of the stunning St Oswald's Way, taking you from the iconic Holy Island (Lindisfarne) to the tranquil Roman settlement of Chollerford.
This is an ultra marathon steeped in history and natural beauty, offering a profound sense of journey as you traverse one of Britain’s most spectacular and varied long-distance trails.
This is a true test of endurance and a classic 100 mile undertaking. The course covers 100 miles with a significant but runnable 2,130m (7,000ft) of elevation gain. The challenge lies not just in the distance, but in managing the constantly changing terrain, from soft sand in the early stages to the wild, rugged hills of the Northumberland National Park.
Your pilgrimage begins on the tidal Holy Island of Lindisfarne, a place of immense historical and spiritual significance. The first section of the race is a breathtaking tour of the Northumberland coastline, running along sandy beaches dominated by the imposing castles of Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh.
As you turn inland, the landscape transforms. The route guides you through pretty, sheltered river valleys before rising into the remote and wild hills of the Cheviots. The final leg of your journey follows the line of Hadrian's Wall, finishing in the peaceful village of Chollerford on the banks of the River North Tyne. It's a course that delivers an incredible variety of scenery and a genuine A-to-B adventure.
This is a bucket-list race for those who love a proper point-to-point journey. The route is simply spectacular, offering a unique blend of coastal beauty and remote inland wilderness. It’s an opportunity to switch off and immerse yourself in the landscape and the rich history of the Northumbrian borderlands. Completing this 100 mile ultramarathon is an achievement that will stay with you forever.
