Embark on a breath taking 100k ultramarathon along one of the UK's most spectacular and historic coastlines. The Pilgrims Ultra 100km follows the majority of the stunning coastal section of St Oswald's Way, taking you from the tidal Holy Island to the charming inland town of Rothbury.
This is a point-to-point ultra marathon steeped in the history of ancient saints and kings, offering runners a profound sense of journey as they trace a path past ancient castles and along vast, sandy beaches.
This is a coastal 100k ultra delivering a fast, runnable and incredibly scenic route. The course covers 102km (63.5 miles) with a manageable 1,169m (3,835ft) of elevation gain. The main challenge comes from the sheer distance and the varied terrain underfoot, which includes long stretches of sand, grassy dunes, and firm coastal paths.
This ultramarathon starts on the beach of the iconic Holy Island of Lindisfarne. From there, the route heads south, hugging the dramatic Northumberland coastline. You will run in the shadows of some of Britain’s most famous castles, including the imposing fortresses at Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh.
The course continues through picturesque fishing villages like Craster until it reaches the historic Warkworth Castle. Here, the route finally turns inland, following the beautiful River Coquet valley for the final stretch into the Northumberland National Park and the finish line in the market town of Rothbury.
This is an ideal choice for those looking for a relatively flat and fast 100k, as well as for runners who love the sense of adventure that comes with a point-to-point journey.
