Ultra X Spring Trail Series - 110km Ultra Marathon

Ready for a proper spring adventure? The Ultra X Spring Trail Series 110km ultra marathon is a fantastic challenge set in the heart of the stunning South Downs National Park. This isn't just a race; it's a full-on journey through some of southern England's most beautiful and varied landscapes.

Starting and finishing at the lovely Cowdray Estate near Midhurst, this ultra marathon is brilliantly organised for runners. The 110km route follows the iconic Serpent Trail, a path that lives up to its name by weaving you through idyllic greensand hills, ancient woodland, riverbanks, and open lowland heath.

Course

If you're looking for a runnable ultramarathon, this is one to seriously consider. The organisers rate the technicality at just 1/5, meaning the trails are generally smooth and fast. While it's certainly an ultra marathon, with all the elevation that entails, you won't be scrambling or picking your way through technical boulder fields. This makes it a great option for someone tackling their first 100km ultra event or for a seasoned runner chasing a good time.

The course is fully marked, so you can keep your head up and enjoy the scenery rather than staring at a map. Plus, with a GPS tracker included for all 110km runners, your friends and family can dot-watch you from home.

The cut-offs are famously relaxed, giving you over two hours for every 10km section between checkpoints. The focus is squarely on the adventure and getting you to the finish line, not on creating brutal time pressures.

Because the race starts and finishes in the same spot at the Cowdray Farm Shop, logistics are a breeze. It’s also a perfect base for any supporters, with hot drinks, food, and an event expo to explore.
