Ultra X Scotland 110km Ultra Marathon

If you're going to run an ultra in Scotland, why not run it around the most famous loch in the world? The Ultra X Scotland 110K is an absolutely epic single-stage ultra that takes you on a full circumnavigation of the legendary Loch Ness.

This is a monster of a route, set in the heart of the stunning Scottish Highlands. The race is part of a fantastic weekend festival of running, starting in Inverness and finishing on the shores of the loch at Dores. The vibe is always brilliant, and the scenery is simply world-class.

Course

This is a proper Highland challenge, make no mistake. The 110km (68 mile) route has over 3,500m of elevation gain, so you'll need to have your climbing legs ready. The course follows two of Scotland's most famous trails, the Great Glen Way and the South Loch Ness Trail.

You'll be running through ancient forests, past thundering waterfalls like the Falls of Foyers, and climbing high up onto the hills for breath taking views over the water. You’ll even get a glimpse of the iconic Urquhart Castle from the trail. The climbs are tough, but the views are more than worth the effort.

The 110km single-stage ultra kicks off early on Saturday morning (around 7 a.m.). The course is fully marked, which is a huge bonus on such a long route, letting you focus on your running and the incredible surroundings.
