Welcome to 200 miles of sweeping chalk downland, ancient woodlands and pure endurance. Organised by the esteemed team at UK Ultra, the South Downs 200 mile ultramarathon is a colossal, continuous trail event that demands absolute respect. If you are looking to step into the elite tier of 200 mile racing, this beautifully brutal loop is the ultimate arena.
Runners have exactly 100 hours to traverse the entirety of the South Downs National Park from East to West and back again. It is a true test of pacing, sleep deprivation management and unyielding mental resilience.
Starting and finishing in the picturesque village of East Dean, near Eastbourne, the route is essentially one massive loop that follows some of the South of England's most historic paths, primarily the Monarch's Way and the legendary South Downs Way.
