Race to the King 100KM Ultra Marathon

The Race to the King 100km Ultra Marathon, organised by Threshold Trail Series, is an endurance event that traverses the entire length of the iconic South Downs Way. This 100 kilometre point-to-point course offers a journey from West Sussex to Hampshire, concluding at a historic landmark.

Course

The 100k route follows the chalky, undulating terrain of the South Downs Way in its entirety, running from east to west. Beginning beneath the historic Arundel Castle, the course guides participants through the rolling hills and expansive landscapes of the South Downs National Park.

The path is predominantly composed of well-established trails and bridleways, with occasional sections on minor roads. Runners will encounter continuous elevation changes, featuring both sustained climbs and gradual descents. Notable points along the route include views over the River Arun near Amberley, various ancient hill forts, and vast panoramas across the countryside and towards the English Channel. The journey culminates at Winchester Cathedral, providing a distinct sense of accomplishment at a historically significant finish line.

The Race to the King 100k Ultra Marathon is suited for endurance runners seeking a continuous challenge along a well-known national trail, supported by extensive event infrastructure.
