The Serpent Trail 100k Ultramarathon

This is the one you've been waiting for. A stunning 100km point-to-point ultra that snakes its way through the very best of the South Downs National Park. The Serpent Trail 100k is a race with a dual personality, a challenging, hilly start that rewards you with a flat, fast finish.

It's a perfect summer 100k ultra, running on sandy, well-draining trails that take you through ancient woodland, over greensand ridges and across beautiful open heathland. And the best part? It's marked so well you can switch off your brain and just run.

Course

The Serpent Trail 100k Ultra starts in Haslemere and finishes 100km later at the finish line festival in Petersfield.

  • The First 50k (The Challenge): This is where you'll find the bigger climbs. The route will test your legs as it takes you up and over the highest point in the South Downs National Park, the beautiful Blackdown.
  • The Last 30k (The Reward): After the halfway mark, the route begins to flatten out significantly. The last 30km are noticeably flat, allowing you to open up your stride and chase that finish line.

With 1,785m of elevation, it's a perfectly balanced course. It’s challenging enough to be a classic, but runnable enough to be fast.

The entire route follows the permanently waymarked Serpent Trail. As if that wasn't enough, the organisers add their own race signage throughout. You don't need to navigate, you just need to follow the arrows and run.

Your entry also includes coach transport from the finish line venue (Petersfield) to the start line (Haslemere) on race morning. Just park up, relax, and let us get you to the start.
