Amberaid 31 Mile (50K) Ultra Marathon

Looking for a low-key, high-reward ultra in the heart of the countryside? The Amberaid 30 is a 31 mile (50K) ultra marathon in the Amber Valley that proves you don't need high mountains to find tough hills and spectacular views.

Organised by the team at First Light Adventure, this is a race that eschews the corporate glitz of bigger events for a friendly,

Course

The course starts and finishes at Ashover Village Hall. From here, you tackle a 31 mile (50km) route that is best described as "undulating", which, in runner speak, means there are plenty of punchy climbs to keep you honest!

The route is a mix of woodland trails, field paths, and tracks. You’ll be treated to expansive views across the valley, engaging descents, and some of the finest quiet trails in the region. Highlights often include sweeping vistas over the Dales and the iconic crags that dot the landscape.

This is a semi-self-navigated ultra. While First Light Adventure marks a few of the trickier sections, the majority of the route is unmarked. You will need to rely on the provided GPX file or route notes (or a good old-fashioned map if you're old school). It adds a layer of adventure to the day, you have to keep your wits about you!

It’s the perfect autumn challenge. The Amber Valley looks stunning in October, and the figure-of-eight format means you are never too far from civilisation, yet you feel miles away from the daily grind. It’s a proper runner’s race: affordable, friendly, and finished off with a well-earned medal. Please visit the official race website for the latest up-to-date info, including registration details.
