Mackyard x 4ZERO - 35 Hour Looped Endurance Event

While not technically a backyard ultra in the true sense, the Mackyard x 4ZERO brings a special kind of chaos to the Lake District. If you're looking for sympathy, you've come to the wrong place. If you're looking for a true test of your limits, read on.

This event takes the infamous backyard ultra format and adds a twist, if more than one competitor reaches the 34th yard after over 140 miles of running, the 35th yard will become a straight shoot out!

Mackyard Ultra Format

The rules are the same as any classic backyard, but the experience is pure Mackyard.

• The 'Yard': A 4.2-mile (6.7km) loop.
• The Bell: You start on the hour, every hour.
• The Clock: You must be back in the starting corral before the hour is up, ready to go again. Too slow, and you're out.
• The Finish: If more than one competitor reaches the 34th yard after over 140 miles of running, the 35th yard will become a straight shoot out.

There are no prizes for finishing a lap first. The only goal is to be ready to answer the bell for the next one. This is a game of pacing, grit, and stubbornness. How fast do you dare go? How much rest can you afford? That's your strategy to figure out.

This is a true test of self-reliance. While on the course, you are on your own. At the Event HQ, you can set up your own personal camp. Small support crews are welcome to help you in the transition area, but be warned: this is a fully self-sufficient event.

You are expected to bring all your own food and nutrition for the entire time you plan to be running, whether that's 5 hours or 35. Don't forget your plates and cutlery, either.
